BE PRESENT
"Most situations that entangle your mind are not today’s concerns; you have borrowed them from tomorrow. In this case, I lift the problems out of today and deposit them in the future, where it is veiled from your eyes. In it’s place I give you My Peace, which flows freely from My Presence."

Paul’s advice is to turn our worries into prayers. Do you want to worry less? 
  • Pray more! Whenever you start to worry, stop and pray.
  • Also, take time to listen to what God has to say to you and thank him for all the good work he has done in your life and around your life.

FAITH
Faith is such a powerful and dynamic force in our lives, especially in times of uncertainty and challenge. 

The concept of faith is beautifully outlined in Hebrews 11:1, which says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." This verse reminds us that faith is not about having everything figured out or knowing the full picture—it’s about trusting in what we cannot yet fully grasp.

Think of faith like the mustard seed, as Jesus taught. Even the smallest amount, when nurtured, can grow into something incredibly strong and transformative. 

It's not about having 100% belief right away—sometimes, you only need 5% or 10% more faith to take that next step. As Jen Goettlieb often says, it’s about building faith in small increments, and over time, that faith strengthens.

As you reflect on your journey, take note of the prayers God has already answered in your life. Those answered prayers are the foundation for even greater faith. Use them to walk with renewed confidence, knowing that the same God who brought you through before will continue to guide you.

December 11th in Jesus Calling says this:
"I am working on your behalf. Bring Me all your concerns, including your dreams. Talk with Me about everything, letting the Light of My Presence shine on your hopes and plans. Spend time allowing My Light to infuse your dreams with life, gradually transforming them into reality. This is a very practical way of collaborating with Me. I, the Creator of the universe, have designed to co-create with you. Do not try to hurry this process. If you want to work with Me, you have to accept My time frame. Hurry is not in My nature. Abraham and Sarah had to wait many years for the fulfillment of My promise, a son. How their long wait intensified their enjoyment of this child! Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses."
FEAR
  • Fear and God’s protection when we are fear full, in the midst of danger
  • Isaiah 41:13 For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do Not Fear; I will help you.
​GRATITUDE
It's easy to lose patience with our healing body’s. I have been guilty of this as well lately. I had to give myself a wakeup call and I have to say, all paths are leading to patience.

I am sitting in gratitude this morning because of my knees. Because of my knees, I am able to use a knee scooter that is enabling me to still be in the kitchen (which I love) and stay off my foot.

But I have to tell you, it took me realizing I was spiraling down to take control of it... and I did it the only way I knew how, to go to gratitude. 

I looked around my house last night, I saw the dishes, I saw the crumbs on the floor and instead of being frustrated, I chose to be thankful.

  • I was thankful for the deal we got on our pans.
  • I was thankful for the food that got into the refrigerator because my husband picked up groceries from the store and put them away.
  • I was thankful for swapping out seed oils for avocado oil.
  • I was thankful for my knee scooter that I had the money to rent.
  • I was thankful for my body that was healing and muscles stretching from the extra use of the scooter.
  • I was thankful for the water coming out of the faucet.
  • I was thankful for the air that was filling my lungs.
  • I was thankful for the glasses pulling everything into clarity.
Before I knew it I was feeling lighter. A Lot more light. I know that this procedure is heavy and we can get heavy in our thoughts about things.

We want so much to be healed and be normal that sometimes we focus a lot on what isn’t (yet) instead of what is. When we realize it, we can make changes immediately.

So, gratitude. Go to gratitude when you are feeling down. I did it yesterday when I was spiraling.

We all do it.

Be encouraged today. There's a purpose to your healing. Everything is happening for you.

WORRY
  • Luke 12:25-26 and SB portion for anxiety; “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
Jesus commands us not to worry. But how can we avoid it?

There seems to be so much worry about - our money, our future, our children, our work, our relationships, our health, our mistakes and regrets (seriously, the list could go on and on). 

Only a deep and confident trust in God's care for us will be able to free us from the anxiety that plagues most of us. 
  • Working and planning responsibly is good; dwelling on all the ways our planning could go wrong is bad.
  • Investing in our relationships is good; dwelling on how we might have damaged them only causes stress.
  • Worry never solves tomorrow's problems, but it always destroys our peace of mind today, in the present moment.
Worrying is pointless because it can't fill any of our needs. Worry is foolish because the creator of the universe loves us and knows what we need. He promises to meet all our real needs but not necessarily all our desires.

Overcoming worry requires the following:
  1. Simple trust in our heavenly Father's care for us. We express this trust by praying to him rather than worrying.
  2. A new perspective on our problems. We can gain this by developing a good strategy for addressing and correcting our problems rather than just worrying about them.
  3. A support team to help. Find some believers who will pray for you to find wisdom and strength to deal with your worries.
  4. Sometimes, professional help. Seek out trained counselors if your worry and anxiety become more than you and your family can handle alone.

PRAISE HIS NAME
“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:12-13 NIV

The Study bible says: 
4:13 Can we really do all things? We receive all the power we need in union with Christ when we do his will and face the challenges that arise from our doing it. He does not grant us superhuman ability to accomplish anything we can imagine without regard to his interests. If we contend for the faith, we will face troubles, pressures, and trials. God wants you to do? Step out in faith and do it trusting him for the strength you will need.
HOPE & PROTECTION

Psalm 91, often referred to as the "Psalm of Protection," is one of the most comforting passages in Scripture, offering a powerful reminder of God’s divine shelter and refuge.

When read aloud, this psalm speaks to the profound security we have in God. It reassures us of His unwavering protection from dangers, fears, and adversities, both seen and unseen. 
  • The words in this psalm remind us that those who trust in the Lord are shielded by His presence and surrounded by His faithfulness.
  • The psalm promises deliverance from deadly threats, disease, and enemies, painting a vivid picture of God’s constant watchfulness over His people.
  • It’s a source of strength for believers facing uncertainty or trouble, serving as a powerful declaration of God’s commitment to be our refuge and fortress.
  • Whether you're walking through physical, emotional, or spiritual battles, this psalm is a calming reminder that God is with you, guarding you every step of the way.
When you truly depend on God continually, as the psalm teaches, your entire perspective shifts. You begin to see life differently—where others may see coincidences, you see miracles. Starting each day with joyful expectation, you actively look for what God is doing in your life.

This shift in perspective helps you accept your own weaknesses, knowing that God’s strength is made perfect in your vulnerability. His plans, superior to your own, guide your steps, and you live with the assurance that He is in control.

By living in Christ continually, you embark on a spiritual adventure—an intimate relationship where God moves through you, and you live fully in His presence. As Psalm 91 illustrates, it is in this closeness to God that we experience true hope, protection, and peace.
PROBLEMS VS. PERSPECTIVE
Welcome Problems as Perspective Lifters

In the midst of knee replacement surgery or any significant life challenge, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the obstacles we face. However, when we shift our focus and view problems as opportunities to gain new perspectives, we allow our faith to lift us out of self-pity and into the light of hope and growth. 

  • This shift in mindset is what the Bible refers to as transforming “light and momentary troubles” into something greater.
Consider this passage from Jesus Calling: “Welcome problems as perspective lifters. They are sent to strengthen your faith and draw you closer to Me. The self-pity pit is where fear thrives. But viewed from above, those obstacles that once seemed so heavy are now temporary and light, as I guide you through them.”

Problems don’t have to drag us down; instead, they can become tools that reshape how we view our circumstances.
  • When we rise above them with faith, we begin to see that they are not insurmountable, but simply steps along the path of spiritual growth.
  • Rather than dwelling in the pit of frustration, we can choose to let our problems push us higher, allowing us to see beyond our current struggles.
Reflection: When you're feeling frustrated, discouraged, or weighed down by difficulties during your recovery, remind yourself that these challenges are momentary.

  • Take a step back and ask: 
    • How can this problem lift my perspective? How can it grow my faith?
By embracing these moments, you allow God to work through your challenges, helping you see the bigger picture and renewing your strength to face what lies ahead.
